Let’s talk about the “I’m self taught” flex. Yeah we get it, you’re cool and don’t need help like the rest of us. Or maybe you also didn’t utilize the resources to become as good as you could be, as quickly as possible.
If saying that you’re self taught puts a gold star on your skills then great, this platform isn’t for you. So that’s why I put together this little platform called The Wire Workshop. I’m a “self-taught” artist and to tell you the truth, I wasted years trying to teach myself things that I could have otherwise asked for help on. But to be honest there wasn’t one place I felt like I could turn to back when I was learning. I wanted to solve that problem for future wire wrapped jewelry artists.
“Wire wrapping is a dying art” I couldn’t disagree more. There is ALWAYS someone who wants something one-of-a-kind. Heady jewelry will forever have its place in the world. So keep wrapping, and don’t waste time figuring out how to be the best at it.
